The Special Purpose Rifle (SPR) is a precision-oriented, semi-automatic rifle designed to fill the gap between standard infantry rifles and full sniper systems. Typically chambered in 5.56 NATO, the SPR features a 16″ to 20″ match-grade barrel for improved accuracy and velocity, paired with a free-floating handguard and enhanced trigger for consistent shot placement. Originally developed for U.S. Special Operations, the SPR is equipped with mid- to high-power optics (e.g., 2.5–10x), bipods, and often a suppressor, enabling effective engagement of targets out to 600+ meters. Its lightweight and modular design make it ideal for designated marksmen who need precision fire without sacrificing mobility in fast-paced or mixed-range environments.
